Over the past four years, Reinhart has produced 131 pints of blood, which could benefit as many as 400 patients. With the current need for blood in Washtenaw County, the partnership between the Charles Reinhart Company, Realtors and the Washtenaw County Chapter of the American Red Cross to organize a blood drive has proved to be vital for our community.
Thank you to Ed Ridha for organizing the blood drive, Darby Kolano for coordinating the juice and baked good donations and to Pam Gurica for keeping records during the blood drive. A huge thank you goes out to all of the blood donors, baked goods and juice donors, and all of the on site volunteers.

The Empty Bowls Project is back for the 2nd consecutive year. On Thursday, February 2nd Saline High School is hosting Empty Bowls from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Empty Bowls is an international project to fight hunger. A simple meal of soup and bread, prepared by the Saline Culinary Arts Program, is served in ceramic bowls, created by Saline students in 3rd thru 12th grade. Guests are asked to keep their bowl after their meal as a reminder that there are empty bowls across the world.
Tickets to Saline’s Empty Bowls event are $12 for individuals and $40 for a family. Proceeds from Empty Bowls will be donated to Food Gatherers, a nonprofit working to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes in Washtenaw County. Last year, Saline Area Schools donated nearly $3,000 to Food Gatherers.

For more information about the Empty Bowls Project, or to purchase your tickets, visit their website.
Reinhart is a proud supporter of The Education Project for Homeless Youth, a project of the Washtenaw Intermediate School District that works to ensure students of homelessness and temporary living situations enroll, attend and succeed in school.

More than 800 children and youth are living without stable housing in homeless shelters, motels, cars and temporarily with friends and family. Some families have lost everything in a fire, others were forced to abruptly leave to flee from a dangerous situation. Others simply don’t have the money for housing and food, much less clothing. Whatever the reason, The Education Project provides support.
The Education Project is organizing Sock Wars. Participants are asked to collect new packages of socks and underwear to donate to students in homeless situations. Donations can be dropped off at the Washtenaw Intermediate School District – 1819 South Wagner Road – in Saline, Michigan.

Participants have the chance of winning fabulous prizes including a Domino’s pizza party, a Zingermans birthday cake and homemade cupcakes and treats from the Ypsilanti Food Co-op.

Reinhart is proud to play a role in the fight against hunger in the greater Ann Arbor area and Washtenaw County. The Charles Reinhart Company held a food drive today at our December All Company Meeting. Agents and staff were asked to bring donations of non-perishable food items, such as: rice, dry beans, cereal, granola bars and soup.
