After a week of voting, readers of AnnArbor.com named The Broken Egg, in Ann Arbor, the best breakfast spot in Washtenaw County by one vote. With 409 votes, Bomber Restaurant in Ypsilanti was crowed runner-up. In third place was Uptown Coney Island in Ann Arbor.
The Broken Egg serves a quick, basic breakfast in an old-fashioned diner atmosphere in downtown Ann Arbor. The menu includes bacon, eggs, pancakes and French toast as well as various lunch options. The Broken Egg is one of few restaurants on Main Street with reasonably low prices.
Bomber Restaurant, home to the Bomber Breakfast, is not for the faint-hearted. The Bomber Breakfast, which includes four eggs, a pound of potatoes and a pound of meat, is served to hundreds of hungry customers every week, according to Bomber Restaurant’s website. Their famously fatty breakfast caught the attention of the Food Network’s “Top Five” program.
